Kosmo Taktiks – Weird Eldritch Small Scale Miniatures Game

by Martin Tajima

Kosmo Taktiks

Kosmo Taktiks is a small scale tabletop wargame built around simple rules, small armies and tactical decisions.

Kosmo Taktiks is for people who want a straightforward wargame that is easy to get started with, but still gives you enough room to make your own decisions on the table. And can be expanded upon with planned supplements and factions down the road.

Intended to work well with roughly 6mm scale miniatures (based on 25mm bases), and on a 2′ x 2′ table. With each player controlling around 8-15 bases of units.

Kosmo MiniaturesMan O’ Kent Games, and Tajima Miniatures have joined forces to bring Kosmo Taktiks to life with your help.

What you see on this page is our fully realised baseline. Success on Kickstarter dictates the final production value of the book. Increased funding will be spent on expanding the graphic design layout of the rules, and increasing the total count of illustrations, as well as making sure the actual Hardcover rulebook is produced with the best available quality.

We are committed to a 100% AI free project, meaning your support directly pays human artists to make this project as visually striking as possible to stand the test of time.

Gameplay

Order Phase

At the start of each round, players assign up to 2 Order Tokens face down to each unit.

Orders include Run / All Out, March / Attack, Hunker Down / Defend, Shoot / Loot, and faction specific Special Orders.

When an Order Token is used, it goes into the Spent Pool. Only a limited number of tokens return each round. Adding a layer where players need to ration which orders to use.

Activation Phase

Players alternate taking turns activating one unit.

When a unit activates, at least one of its Order Tokens is revealed and spent. The unit can then perform the actions allowed by that order.

Units can move, shoot and fight in close combat.

Hits give the target 1 Pin Token rather than immediately removing a Stand.

The opposing player can remove accumulated Pin Tokens during his activation to make the unit less effective.

Clean Up Phase

  • Spend Pins for effects, move or remove enemy units.
  • Check Objectives and score Victory Points.
  • Return 1 Order Token for each surviving unit to you Order Token Pool.

Winning the Game

Players score Victory Points by controlling objectives. Destroying enemy units is not the main way of winning.

Worth Noting

The game is designed for small tables, with 6mm miniatures working well on a 2′ x 2′ playing area. However the game can be scaled to allow larger and longer battles if the players so wish.

Factions

Star Order

The rulers of the Kosmos. Star Order. They go beyond and enhance their people with cybernetics to combat the perils lurking in the deep voids of the space.

Now responding to the Kosmo Initiative rebellion. While battling the Scrapper raids and conquering new resource rich worlds from the ancient Koven.

There are reports of colonies succumbing to unknown infestations. Lord Commanders noting in their diaries of strange whispers and visions of impossible geometry.

But the Order stands strong as the bright beacon of humanity. One day bringing even the farthest of stars into order.

Special Order: Better Than Human

Koven

The Koven span countless worlds across the vast Kosmos. They are a relentless legion of steel and processing power, limitless automatons governed by a singular, cold Direktive.
Shrouded in mystery, some claim they are older than the stars themselves. For aeons, they have waged a war of absolute attrition to keep the darkness of the Myx at bay.
But the younger, reckless races of the galaxy have unsettled the ancient balance. Blindly expanding into forbidden sectors, they have broken the quarantine lines and disturbed things meant to sleep forever. Now, the math has changed.
They cannot be bargained with. They cannot be reasoned with. They do not feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until the error is corrected.

Scrappers

No one knows where Scrappers come from. Fortunately, no one has ever cared enough to find out.

Obsessed with scavenging forgotten battlefields and derelict starships, Scrappers believe that somewhere in the Kosmos lies the mythical Final Scrap. According to legend, whoever claims it will ascend to the sacred Scrapverse, a paradise where every engine runs, every bolt fits, and nothing is ever thrown away.

Scrap Bards lead roaming gangs of scavengers, smugglers, and opportunistic raiders. One day they’ll sell you spare parts. The next they’ll be stealing the ship they just repaired.

Most governments consider Scrappers a nuisance. Those who have fought them know better. Never underestimate a creature carrying a weapon it built from someone else’s tank.

Myx

Ancient beyond measure, the Myx predate every known civilization. Only the Koven remember them from their infancy, waging an endless war to keep the Myx imprisoned.
The Myx spread in silence, in the shadows and in the minds. Their whispers invade dreams, manipulating the very reality of those who fall victim to them. They corrupt worlds from within, both literally and figuratively. Entire civilizations can, and will, tear themselves apart in a frenzy of violent hallucinations. Carving alien glyphs into their own skin while the ground beneath them warps into a pulsing kosmik nightmare.
In the vast darkness of the Kosmos
You can’t see the shadows.
But the Shadows see you.

Special Order: Corruption

Kosmo Initiative

The Kosmo Initiative began as a movement of hope. A promise that humanity could cast off the rule of the Star Order and reclaim its own destiny.

They reject cybernetic augmentation, believing that mankind’s future lies not in steel, but in blood. Through radical genetic engineering and biological enhancement, they seek to create a new humanity stronger, purer, and free from machine dependence.

Yet whispers follow the Initiative wherever it emerges. Entire colonies vanish after “liberation.” Political rivals disappear without trial. Those who question the cause are branded enemies of mankind itself.

Whether the Initiative fights for freedom. Or simply another vision of absolute control. Depends entirely on who survives to tell the story.

Mercs

The galaxy is filled with powers too stubborn, too greedy, or too strange to pledge themselves to any empire.

Some fight for credits. Others fight for forgotten technology. A few simply arrive, conquer, and vanish without a trace.

Mercenary Forces are independent armies that can be hired to strengthen your ranks. Whether it’s the stubborn Dverg carving fortunes from dead worlds, the shadowy Alien infiltrators spreading unseen through enemy spacecraft, the corporate war machine of Tajima Corp, each brings its own weapons, tactics, and ambitions to the battlefield.

In the Kosmos, alliances are temporary.

Profit is forever.
