Retro Stations: Maps and Miniatures – Physical

by 0-hr

Story

This next installment of the 0-hr “Retro” collection presents a pair of space stations that would be at home in a vintage story or a more typical sci-fi campaign. Guardian Headquarters is a small asteroid-base, and the Saturn-class defence platform is a ring-shaped station with a central sphere. Both are built with “down” toward the bottom of the structure.

This campaign includes a pair of posters to map out the stations, plus miniatures for both of the stations and the fighters. Digital documents and images (maps, posters, and bonus art) are included as well.

Based on the larger Lochlyn IX design, Guardian HQ has a standard occupancy of 60. Though heavily armed with Titan-class laser turrets, Nova Missiles, and the dreaded Mega Cannon, it was built mainly for observation, administration, and strategic planning. From here, the gallant officers of the United Earth Planetary Defence Force coordinate the fight against alien incursions.

Every Saturn-class defense platform carries 26 crew as well as half a dozen Astrojet spacefighters. These outposts protect the far reaches of the solar system and key points throughout. Using captured alien tech, the design boasts a quartet of capital-sized disintegration rays, all powered by an exotic aetheric engine core.

This Retro Stations Set includes six miniatures:

  • One Guardian HQ asteroid base
  • One Saturn-class defence platform
  • Four Astrojet fighters

The Guardian HQ model is 54mm (about 2 inches) long. The Saturn model is 36 mm in diameter. The little Astrojets are about 20 mm long. The set comes with two round, black, 1-inch flight stands. One is short to accommodate the top-heavy Guardian model. The other is normal height. Both of the station models have 3mm peg holes built in. The Astrojets do not use stands. These are all unpainted, 3D-printed resin models.

Because this campaign is a continuation of the 0-hr Retro collection, the initial Retro Pack of miniatures is available as an add-on. That set includes a pair of rocket ships (a classic vertical model and a horizontal ship), a flying saucer, and four little UFOs. These ships, and their poster, are from an earlier Kickstarter campaign and are also available at Port Zero on Etsy.
