Deadlock 235 An Eldritch Sci-Fi Skirmish Game Now Available

DEADLOCK 235

The Ashen Reach

In the Grim Darkness of the… no wait… A long time ago in a Galaxy… no that’s not right either.

Beyond the known Universe lies an eldritch realm of featureless grey corridors we have come to know as the Kaido. This both connects the Worlds of the Ashen Reach and constricts our ability to travel between them. Where one would expect such freedom to roam the stars to bring peace and prosperity to these worlds, the reality is that they are just another resource to fight over, and another choke point to be held. It is a world of a million Cold Wars, all waiting to blow.

Build your army. Take the field. Fight for control of the Ashen Reach.

Deadlock 235 is an Old School, Retro-inspired Science-Fiction Wargame built on the concepts of creative freedom, tactical battles and territorial conflict. Rather than prescribing a myriad of Faction-specific Rulings and Stratagems, all Abilities and Equipment are drawn from a shared library, becoming the Universal Mechanical Language through which the identity of each Faction is expressed.

At the core of the Game are the Creator Frameworks, used to construct Units belonging to each of the four Archetypes: Troops, Entities, Vehicles and Kaiju. These Frameworks allow Players to build and field almost any kind of Force they can conceive of, even sentient Balloon Monsters if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, or perhaps simply a collection of Models recently relegated to being no longer viable in another Game.

If creating custom Units sounds a little daunting at first, or you just want to get stuck in and roll some Dice, there are five pre-existing Factions, each with their own History within the Ashen Reach and a complete, Playable Army List included in the Book. These Factions were created using the very same Frameworks available to Players, so feel free to check our Maths.

Miniature-agnostic by design, there is room for all kinds in the Ashen Reach: from standardised Troops waging conventional warfare, to Empires of cloned Troops and even hordes of ravenous beasts intent on devouring anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. All Lifeforms, big and small (and some really, really big), fight for their survival in the Reach. But the fighting doesn’t have to end when the last model is removed from the table.

Also included is a Sector Campaign Mode, which expands the conflict beyond individual battles, allowing Players to fight over territory, establish control and experience the changing fortunes of a wider war. Victories, defeats and decisions made between engagements all contribute to the developing campaign.

The Ashen Reach is a place where nobody truly wins, only survives. Ancient routes are fought over by countless competing powers, and entire generations can spend their lives defending the same stretch of ground. There is no grand promise of peace, no final victory waiting at the end of the road.

There is only the next battle.

Welcome to Deadlock 235.
