Firefight – 2nd Edition

Mantic’s Firefight is a sci-fi tabletop miniatures wargame where players control futuristic armies in the Warpath Universe, characterized by a capitalist, corporate-dominated galaxy called the Galactic Co-Prosperity Sphere (GCPS).It is a squad-based game focused on capturing objectives, featuring alternating activations for faster turns, intuitive movement based on a unit’s leader, and the use of eight-sided dice for a wider range of probabilities. The game offers deep tactical depth, faction-specific abilities, customizable units, and a fast-paced experience set in a future of galactic expansion and resource exploitation.

Setting:

The game takes place in the Warpath Universe, within the GCPS, where powerful corporations exploit alien planets for resources, leading to brutal sci-fi warfare.
Gameplay Mechanics:
Alternating Activations: Instead of one player activating all their units, players activate units in alternating turns, preventing a single army from dominating before other forces can act.

Leader-Based Movement & Line of Sight: To speed up gameplay, movement and line of sight are determined by the leader of each unit, with other models moving around it.

Eight-Sided Dice: Firefight uses D8s, which provide a broader spectrum of results compared to D6s, eliminating the need for a two-wound step on units.
Tactical Depth & Factions:
Orders Mechanic: Players can issue special rules or “Orders” on the fly, allowing for immediate tactical reactions to their opponent’s actions.

Customization: The game offers customizable units, allowing for diverse strategic deployment and high-impact combat.

Diverse Units: Players can field a wide range of units, including large vehicles and monsters, without sacrificing the number of models on the field.
