In Her Majesty’s Name – 2nd Edition

In Her Majesty’s Name is a steampunk skirmish wargame where small “Adventuring Companies” fight clandestine battles in a secret war during a technologically advanced 1895. Players create their own companies based on a range of Victorian-era tropes and pulp fiction, using a system that incorporates mundane steampunk, weird science, and mystical powers to achieve victory. The game is versatile, allowing for one-off games or longer narrative campaigns.  

  • Setting: 
    Late Victorian era (1895), but with advanced technology and a secret war, inspired by authors like Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. 

  • Gameplay: 
    A skirmish game with small companies of 4-15 figures per player. Gameplay is often quick, with games lasting from 15 minutes to an hour. 

  • Themes: 
    Steampunk, pulp fiction, and Victorian tropes are central to the game’s aesthetic and rules. 

  • Company creation: 
    Players build their own “Adventuring Companies,” which can be customized with a variety of weapons, vehicles, and mystical powers. There are also pre-generated companies based on various factions, such as the British Explorers’ Club, the Prussian Society of Thule, and the Black Dragon Tong.

    Uses an alternate activation system and a d10 for skill checks, which simplifies modifiers to reduce the need for constant calculations.

    The system includes rules for running longer campaigns where companies can gain experience and face ongoing challenges.

    The rulebooks and supplements provide material for creating your own characters and scenarios, ranging from mechanical automata and steam-powered walkers to mystical artifacts and occult creatures.
