Wings of Glory – WWI

WW1 Wings of Glory is a fast-paced, tabletop miniatures game that recreates World War I aerial combat. Players secretly plot their plane’s maneuvers using cards and engage in dogfights, bombing runs, and reconnaissance missions. The game requires no painted figures, as ready-to-play miniatures dictate gameplay.

Core Gameplay Mechanics
    • Simultaneous Movement: Players secretly select a maneuver card (representing banked turns, dives, and climbs) for their plane. All players reveal their choices and move their miniatures simultaneously, capturing the chaotic, fast-paced nature of dogfighting.
    • Historical Maneuver Decks: Every specific airplane model (like the Sopwith Camel or Fokker Dr.I) has its own unique, historically accurate deck of maneuver cards, making flight handling feel authentic.
    • Damage Decks: Firing at enemy planes requires drawing from specific damage decks (labeled A, B, C, or D) which determine whether the bullets miss, hit, cause special damage (like jammed guns), or inflict fatal wounds.
    • Altitude & Rules Complexity: The game spans multiple rule tiers—Basic, Standard, Advanced, and Optional. Advanced rules introduce climbing and altitude mechanics, wind direction, and specialized weapons like anti-aircraft guns and incendiary bullets.

Essential Components
  • Airplane Packs: Individual, pre-painted 1/144 scale miniatures that include their specific maneuver deck, airplane cards, and consoles.
  • Rules & Accessories Pack: The foundational boxed set that provides the comprehensive 40-page rulebook, damage cards, target tokens, and altitude counters needed for large-scale battles.
  • Duel Packs: Starter sets featuring two planes along with simplified rules, making it a great entry point for beginners.
  • Special Packs: Larger scale models that introduce multi-engine heavy bombers (like the Handley Page O/400 or Zeppelin Staaken) and observation balloons to your battlefield.
