In September 1860, the fate of the Papal States was decided on the battlefield of Castelfidardo. Facing the advance of the Piedmontese army stood a remarkable force: the Papal Army, strengthened by volunteers who had travelled from across Europe to defend what they believed in.
Drawn from France, Belgium, Austria, and many other nations, these men answered the call of faith and duty, leaving behind their homes to join the Papal ranks. Their courage, commitment, and unwavering devotion earned them a name that still resonates today: the Crusaders.
This project seeks to bring these extraordinary soldiers to life as highly detailed 28mm miniatures for collectors, painters, and wargamers alike. Our goal is to recreate a fascinating and often overlooked chapter of 19th-century history, giving these unique troops the representation they deserve on the tabletop.
Whether you are passionate about historical wargaming, miniature painting, or military history, this range will allow you to field one of the most distinctive armies of the Risorgimento era and relive the dramatic events that shaped the future of Italy.
The miniatures, from a uniformological point of view, represent the papal army of 1860, however many also adapt to the subsequent period, in particular to the battle of Mentana in 1867.
