We Played God

We Played God is a solo / coop, tabletop miniatures skirmish game set in a near future where dinosaurs have been genetically reconstructed. Eden was intended to be a scientific haven for the observation and study of prehistoric creatures, but it becomes a nightmare when the facility goes dark, and the fences begin to fail. Sneak, run, hide, and fight your way through an intense narrative campaign where you must survive against all odds. Collect supplies, recruit survivors, and work your way through Eden’s hidden secrets in a desperate attempt to escape the island. We Played God is a solo and cooperative tabletop miniatures skirmish game.
Core Setting & Premise
  • The Location: The game takes place at Eden, a futuristic, isolated research park and scientific haven designed for studying genetically reconstructed prehistoric creatures.
  • The Inciting Incident: The facility suddenly goes dark, containment grids collapse, security fences fail, and the prehistoric residents break completely loose.
  • The Goal: Players control a small group of human survivors who must manage a hideout, sneak past apex predators, gather vital resources, and escape the island alive.
Gameplay Mechanics
  • Survival Horror Focus: This is not a military or high-combat game; running face-first into an aggressive “alpha” dinosaur is usually fatal. Gameplay heavily emphasizes tactical stealth, running, and hiding.
  • Stress and Noise: Taking risky actions—like hacking terminals to gather information—creates noise that attracts nearby predators. Survivors accumulate stress tokens, which actively make passing future skill tests much more difficult.
  • Unpredictable AI: The game features 15 distinct dinosaur species. While survivors use standard polyhedral dice, the dinosaurs are controlled by specialized Behaviour Dice which determine if they will peacefully graze or aggressively hunt.
  • Narrative Campaign: The core system includes a branching 16-scenario narrative campaign. Between scenarios, players must carefully manage a persistent base hideout; if you lose all of your recruited survivors, your campaign fails.
