Reinforced concrete building ruins!
The thing is that post-apocalyptic scenery is something I’m asked for quite often; and when I think about it, the first thing that comes to mind are scenes like… the epilogue of Mad Max 3, where you see a devastated Sydney; Terminator, with the T-800s among concrete ruins and skulls; the urban remains of The Matrix after eons of war… The image of modern concrete buildings, destroyed and eroded by time, where only the frame, the structure, remains… the concrete skeleton. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while, but every time I tried, I ended up with boring, dull (and monotonous to paint) cement pieces, with hardly any texture or details, which I didn’t like at all…
…That is, until my last project, when I made a reinforced concrete cross like the one in the “Trench Crusade” illustrations. Broken concrete, showing the frame and internal metal beams, could be interesting enough to make this type of ruin. And this is what we have here!
