Armada

Armada from Mantic Games is a fantasy tabletop naval miniatures game where players command fleets of ships, such as Basilean or Orc vessels, in strategic battles across a water map.The game incorporates dynamic wind mechanics that influence activation order and movement, as well as rules for various ship types, fliers, magic, and environmental effects like weather and monsters. Players maneuver their fleets to get within firing range, sink opponents’ ships, achieve objectives, or force a surrender, with customizable fleets and a campaign system offering expanded gameplay.

Key Gameplay Mechanics

  • Ship Activation: During a ship’s activation, it can move, turn, and fire its cannons.
  • Shooting: Cannons use different colored dice for different shot types. Hitting requires dice rolls modified by range and crew skill.
  • Boarding Actions: If ships are within a short range, players can attempt a boarding action.
  • Customization: Players assemble their fleets based on a agreed-upon points value from their starter kits and booster fleets.
  • Scenario-Based: The game is played out through scenarios with different objectives, which can include elements like fliers, fortifications, and interactive terrain.
