Blood & Steel

Blood & Steel is a skirmish level game set during the reign of Queen Victoria. It focuses on combat at the fringes of larger battles and is based on the same mechanics as Blood & Plunder and Blood & Valor, but with key changes that makes it a different gaming experience. The following conflicts (and force lists) are included:

  • 2nd Seminole War (United States & Seminoles)
  • Mexican American War (United States & Mexico)
  • US Civil War (Union & Confederacy)
  • 2nd Taranaki War (Great Britain & Māori)
  • Anglo-Zulu War (Great Britain & Zulu)
  • Spanish American War (United States & Spain)
  • Small Units:
Units are typically composed of four to eight models, with individual leaders and support personnel.
  • Mission-Based Scenarios:
Players use objective cards to add variety and replayability through missions that focus on actions like raids, ambushes, and securing objectives.
  • Skill Tests:
Units perform skill tests using 10-sided dice (d10s) to determine success in actions like shooting, melee, and resolve.
  • Command Range:
Leaders have a command range (8-inch for lieutenants, 12-inch for majors and higher) that allows them to activate units.
  • Adaptable Rules:
While designed for 28mm miniatures, the rules can be adapted for different scales or for larger-scale games using existing basing conventions from other games.
