Brigade Fire and Fury 2nd Edition

Fire and Fury, Wargaming the American Civil War in Miniature, was first released in 1990 and remains one of the most popular historical military miniatures wargames in the hobby. The Second Edition, Brigade Fire and Fury with its companion, the Great Western Battles Scenario Book, are designed to refight the big battles of the Civil War. The basic tactical unit represents a brigade, which allows a player to command an entire division or corps, and several players to control large opposing armies on the tabletop. The larger scale allows you to refight Gettysburg, Antietam, Shiloh and other epic battles of the war.

Tactical Scope:

The game focuses on brigade-level actions, with each stand of figures representing 4-6 single battalion regiments or a cavalry brigade.
Scale:

It uses a map scale where 1 inch represents 45 or 60 yards, and a game turn corresponds to 20-30 minutes of battle.
Miniatures:

The rules are designed for 15mm figures but can be adapted for other scales.
Dice:

Ten-sided dice are used to resolve randomness in movement, morale, and combat, simulating battle fatigue and the “fog of war”.
Status Markers:

Modeled status markers are used to denote units that are disordered, out of ammunition, or other states.

Gameplay Features

Maneuver Phase:

The game begins with a maneuver phase where players conduct checks for each unit, resolving movement and potential disorder using a maneuver table.
Combat:

Combat consists of fire and charge phases, where dice rolls determine the effectiveness of troops and leaders.
Randomness:

Random elements are introduced through dice rolls for unit morale and movement, influenced by factors like experience and fatigue.
Army Generation:

The second edition includes a fictional army generator to allow for pick-up games.
