Clash of Spears

Clash of Spears is a historical miniatures wargame for ancient skirmishes, focusing on small-scale battles with around 30-60 figures per side, played using individual, based figures on 28mm or 15mm scales.It emphasizes resource management, particularly command points and unit fatigue, to drive tactical decisions for a “gritty and personal” experience of conflict. Set in the classical period of the 4th to 2nd centuries BC, players build forces from lists for nations like Romans, Carthaginians, and Greeks to execute raids, scouting, and small-scale engagements.  

• Small-Scale Conflict: 

  The game focuses on skirmishes and raids, not massed battles, allowing for tactical depth through unit positioning and terrain management. 
• Resource Management: 

  Players must manage command points to activate units and, more importantly, track unit fatigue, which negatively affects their effectiveness in combat. 
• Individual Figures: 

  The rules are designed for individually based figures, offering flexibility and allowing players to use existing collections. 
• Skills & Traits: 

  Specialized skills and traits are used to represent different unit specializations and fighting styles within ancient armies. 
• D6-Based Mechanics: 

  Combat and activation are resolved using six-sided dice, with higher rolls generally being good.
