Setting & Scale

The game explores “what if” scenarios, imagining a timeline where World War II concluded in 1944 but tension exploded into a new conflict (such as the historical Operation Unthinkable) four years later. Because of this setting, players get to field large, experimental, and prototype vehicles that never saw mass production—such as the massive 200-ton Maus. It is a 50mm-scale game that utilizes highly detailed multi-part plastic miniatures.

Gameplay Mechanics

Focused Warfare: The game strips away infantry, artillery, aircraft, and assaulting phases. Instead, it zeroes in exclusively on armored combat, demanding players maneuver, shoot, and outflank opposing armor.

Dynamic Objectives: Unlike traditional rigid wargames, Clash of Steel uses random draws for mission setups and objective cards. Objectives are often kept face-down or shuffled, meaning the location, value, or rules of victory can unpredictably change as the turns progress.
