Fate of a Nation is a historical miniatures wargame that simulates the high-stakes tank and infantry battles of the Arab-Israeli Wars.
Originally released as an expansion for Flames of War, the game was later updated into a comprehensive, standalone 204-page hardback rulebook built on a variant of the popular WWIII: Team Yankee rule system.
Core Gameplay & Scale
Scale: Played using highly detailed 15mm (1:100 scale) miniature tanks, infantry platoons, artillery, and aircraft.
System: Uses a streamlined, card-driven system where designated Unit Cards give players quick reference to troop stats and special rules during live play.
Turn Mechanics: Features structured turn sequences—including starting, movement, shooting, and assault steps—designed for fast-paced, tactical tabletop combat.
Historical Scope
The game focuses primarily on two massive, era-defining conflicts that witnessed the largest tank battles since World War II
The Six-Day War (1967): Recreates Israel’s pre-emptive strike against massing borders and the rapid, six-day blitz across the desert.
The Yom Kippur War (1973): Simulates the surprise Arab counter-offensive and the intense, multi-front defensive struggle that followed.
Playable Armies
The game allows players to build, paint, and command tactical forces across several major factions, each utilizing historically accurate, Cold War-era military equipment:
Israeli Defence Force (IDF): Veteran, highly skilled forces wielding American-made Magach (M60 Patton) tanks, French AMX light tanks, modified “Super Shermans,” and Sho’t (Centurion) tanks.
United Arab Republic (Egypt): Large, heavily mechanized formations relying on mass numbers and Soviet-supplied armor and anti-tank missiles.
Syria: Armoured and specialized infantry divisions utilizing distinct Soviet hardware to push the steep escarpments of the Golan Heights.
