‘O’ Group

‘O’ Group is a World War II battalion-level wargame that simulates command decisions during combat, with rules based on historical training doctrines. Players command a battalion and its supports, focusing on allocating reserves and managing morale, which is a core part of the game’s strategy. The system features unique mechanics like Combat Patrol markers for initial deployment, representing a historical practice of sending forward troops to scout the enemy.
Game features
  • Level: Battalion-level, players control a headquarters and the infantry, support, and attached armor units under it.
  • Historical Basis: The rules are based on historical Second World War offensive doctrines and training pamphlets, which guides tactical play.
  • Command and Control: A significant part of the gameplay involves command and control, with players making decisions about how to allocate limited command resources between moving troops and managing their units’ morale.
  • Combat System: The combat system merges morale and losses. Units can gain “shock” and “suppression,” but once they take “section losses,” they cannot be regained.
  • Deployment: The game uses a unique system for initial deployment where players can use “Combat Patrol Markers” to represent a “jump-off” point for where their real units will arrive later in the game.
  • Scope: The rules are designed for the later war period (UK, US, Germany, Soviet Union) but can be used with historical unit structures for gaming any period of WWII.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
