Ravenfeast – Viking Age Rules

Ravenfeast: Viking Age is a free, introductory set of skirmish rules for historical tabletop wargaming. The game focuses on fast-paced, “beer and pretzels” style battles for two to four players with a small number of figures (around a dozen per player). In addition to core rules for movement, ranged combat, and melee, the game includes optional rules for rune cards, larger battles, and mythological elements.

Core rules

Objective: The goal is to resolve Viking Age scenarios like raiding in one to two hours.
Figure count: A game typically uses a small number of figures per player, around a dozen.
Turn sequence: A turn includes initiative, rally, movement, missile, and melee phases.
Combat:
- Ranged: Terrain between the shooter and target can block shots.
- Melee: Figures in base contact can attack. A successful hit is then defended by the opponent rolling their armor stat or under to save. Wounds are tracked, with figures having a specific number of wounds (e.g., a Hearthguard might have 2, a Warlord 3).
Morale: Players must roll for morale tests when their units are under pressure.
