Rogue Hammer

Rogue Hammer is a fast-playing, unit-based Sci-Fi wargame, designed as an homage to the original 1987 Rogue Trader era. It uses Squad Hammer mechanics to simulate skirmishes with infantry, vehicles, and monsters in a narrative-driven, non-tournament setting. It features 32+ unit profiles, non-random activation, and three range bands for combat.

Key Features and Mechanics

  • Gameplay Style: Focuses on narrative, over-the-top, “Wagnerian” space warfare rather than strict competitive list-building.
  • Unit Structure: Battles typically feature 4-8 units per side, often organized as 3 characters and 3 teams.
  • Core Engine: Uses a modified, faster version of the Squad Hammer rules.
  • Combat System: Features three range bands (9″, 24″, and long-range) with mechanics for close-quarter firing.
  • Features: Includes rules for vehicles, psionics, and unit retreats/regrouping.
  • Miniatures: Compatible with various 15mm-28mm sci-fi miniatures.
  • Modes: Supports both open tabletop play and a “Patrol Mode” that functions like a sci-fi dungeon crawler.

Rogue Hammer is designed to evoke the “weirdness” of early 40k, allowing players to use classic or modern miniatures for quick, evening-length games.
