Savage Core 2

Savage Core 2 (SC2) is a fast-paced, pulp skirmish wargame set within a dangerous “world within a world” beneath the Earth’s surface. It is a revised and streamlined second edition that focuses on, chaotic, fun-filled, and often grisly, prehistoric or fantastical combat.

Core Features and Gameplay
  • Low Model Count: Designed for small warbands, typically requiring fewer than 10 miniatures per side.
  • System: Uses an exclusive D10 (10-sided dice) mechanic for both opposed and unopposed rolls, designed to be simple and fast.
  • Turn Structure: Phases include initiation (based on “Moxie”), “Double Trouble” random encounters (dinosaurs, environmental hazards), “Tricky Customer” (using special abilities), and combat/movement.
  • Characters: Units are divided into “Bosses” (leaders) and “Bods” (rank-and-file), with stats including Moxie, Smarts, Tick (health), Buff, Guts, and Clip (speed).
  • Setting: A “Lost World” style environment featuring jungles, ruined cities, and tundra.

Factions (The Big Six)
The game features six main factions, along with various minor or exotic cultures:
  1. Atlanteans: Master slavers utilizing armor, whips, and spears.
  2. Amazons: Vicious female warriors using toxins, venoms, and elixirs.
  3. Simians: Intelligent apes and masters of ambush.
  4. Neanderthals: Brutal, strong, and slow hunters from the Hollow Hills.
  5. Jaguar Tribe: Cannibalistic warriors wielding volcanic glass weapons.
  6. Cro-Magnons: Arrogant and agile hunters from the Mammoth Plains.

Key Aspects of Savage Core 2
  • Pulp Atmosphere: The game encourages a sense of fun and adventure, often featuring “Double Trouble” cards to introduce random threats like T-Rexes, lava flows, or “lost Nazi treasure hunters”.
  • Customization: Includes options for alternative Bosses, special tricks, and relics to customize warbands.
  • Versatility: While it has its own line of miniatures, the rules are designed to be used with various 28mm-32mm “Lost World” or pulp models.
  • No Historical Knowledge Required: The game is pure fantasy, designed for enjoyment over historical accuracy.
