Sharp Practice 2nd Edition

Sharp Practice is a wargame ruleset designed for large-scale skirmishes in the black powder era (approx. 1700–1865).
It features a fast-paced, narrative-driven system using 30–120 figures per side, focusing on heroic leaders and command-and-control, making it ideal for simulating literary adventures or tactical engagements.

Key Features & Description:

  • Period & Scope: Covers the Seven Years’ War, French-Indian War, American War of Independence, Napoleonic Wars, and Indian Mutiny.
  • Gameplay Mechanics: Uses a card-driven activation system to command units. It focuses on the importance of leaders in managing “shock” (fatigue) rather than individual figure micro-management.
  • Unit Structure: Units typically consist of 6–12 figures, with a “force” comprising several groups and leaders.
  • Scale: Works best with 15mm to 28mm figures.
  • Objective: The game focuses on achieving tactical objectives rather than just total destruction of the enemy.
  • Support: Strong, active community with many official and fan-made, period-specific army lists.
