Xenos Rampant

Xenos Rampant is a miniature wargame for science fiction battles, developed from the popular Lion Rampant ruleset by Osprey Games.It is a setting-agnostic “large skirmish” game, meaning it’s designed to be played with ~30-50 models (often 28mm) in any sci-fi genre, such as post-apocalyptic, space opera, or near future. The game features straightforward rules familiar to Rampant players while incorporating specific changes for futuristic warfare, including rules for vehicles and unit cohesion.

Core Concept:

Setting Agnostic:

Xenos Rampant is a standalone ruleset that doesn’t tie you to a specific brand or universe. You can use any miniatures you like to create your own unique sci-fi armies.
Large Skirmish:

The game focuses on platoon-sized battles with detachments typically consisting of around 30-50 models.
Rampant Series:

It’s part of the popular Rampant series, inheriting its simple, easy-to-learn mechanics but adapted for science fiction scenarios.

Gameplay:

Unit Focus:

Units are the core of the game, with players fielding between 4 and 6 units per detachment.
Morale:

Units must pass morale checks to stay effective, which can be triggered by hits, even if they don’t cause wounds.
Actions:

Players alternate activating units, with a core decision of whether a unit can move or fire in a turn, but not both.
Vehicles:

The rules allow for the inclusion of one fighting vehicle and/or transport vehicle, which can be “soft-skinned” like trucks or jeeps.
Commanders:

Each detachment has a commander who provides a buff to nearby units during activation or courage checks.
