The Tabs
The tabs stick to the edge of the page, with the printed section sitting outside the book so you can find the section you need quickly. They are printed on clear material and finished with a clear matt laminate to help protect the printed area.
The tabs can be carefully removed and repositioned during fitting without damaging the page. Each set will also have a fitting guide showing which page every tab is designed to fit.
The Legions Imperialis Tabs
I am planning three tab sets for Legions Imperialis.
1: Legions Imperialis Rule Book Tabs – This set will be designed specifically for the Legions Imperialis Rule Book. It will include tabs for the most useful rules and sections in the book, along with spare tabs that can be written on for any extra sections you want to mark.
2: Liber Strategia Tabs – This set will be designed specifically for Liber Strategia. It will include tabs for the most useful rules and sections in the book, along with spare tabs that can be written on for any extra sections you want to mark.
3: Campaign Book Tabs – Catch-All Set. This will be a smaller set designed to work with the Legions Imperialis campaign books, including: The Great Slaughter, Rise of the Dark Mechanicum, The Devastation of Tallarn.
The tabs will use general headings that can work across the different books, rather than producing a separate tab set for every campaign book. One set is intended for one book.
The Adeptus Titanicus Tabs
I am planning four tab sets for Adeptus Titanicus.
1: Adeptus Titanicus Rule Book Tabs – A set designed specifically for the Adeptus Titanicus Rule Book along with spare tabs that can be written on for any extra sections you want to mark.
2: Loyalist Legios Tabs – A dedicated set for the Loyalist Legios book.
3: Traitor Legios Tabs – A dedicated set for the Traitor Legios book.
4: Campaign Book Tabs – Catch-All Set. A smaller general set designed for the campaign books: Titandeath, Doom of Molech, Shadow and Iron, The Defence of Ryza, Crucible of Retribution.
Catch-All Sets
The Catch-All Sets use general headings that appear in several books. This is the same idea I have already used for the Arcane Journal, Kill Team Dossier and Horus Heresy Journal Tactica tab sets.
This makes the sets useful for several current books and gives them a better chance of working with future campaign books as well.
See the example below of an Old World Arcane Journal set, this set of tabs will fit any Arcane Journal and was designed to be future proof.
Choosing the Tab Positions
As I don’t play either of these games, I will be working with experienced Legions Imperialis and Adeptus Titanicus backers to decide which pages actually need tabs.
The contents pages, chapter headings, indexes and reference sections will be checked for each book. I will then share the proposed tab lists before the final artwork is sent to print.
This gives backers the chance to point out anything important that has been missed or anything that does not really need a tab.
There is only so much room along the edge of a book, so the aim is not to tab every chapter. It is to choose the sections that are genuinely useful while playing.
Once the tab lists have been checked, I will complete the artwork and receive a digital proof from the printer. The proof will be checked before the final print run is approved.
