After the murder of both Dukes, the Rent exploded in a catastrophic storm of eldritch magic, lashing the earth with its palpitations. He was brought back to this reality to the toll of campanae resonating throughout Venice. Baphrael now bears a massive campana in place of his head and neck, a trophy of the destruction of the Holy See; a malevolent spirit trapped within the campana ensures that the vessel stays committed to its task.
