Wargames Atlantic Release New Quar Miniatures

Quar: Western Arnyaran Infantry

NODD FFAE ALAYS! “The Free, Always!”

The battle cry of the Foskyldae rolls across Creevin ahead of the land trains like Cythwyn itself. Western Arnyara has been preparing for this moment for a generation, stockpiling weapons, training rhyflers, and building the armored columns that now grind eastward toward Aber and beyond. This is the homeland taken from their grandmams and granddas and promised to their kits. These rhyflers do not fight for pay or by conscription. They fight because they have been waiting their entire lives for this war, and they mean to see it finished. To the Foskyldae, every mile east is a mile closer to home.

GWYLWCH! “Keep Watch!”

The Gwyldyfin have been keeping watch since before most of the armies fighting across Creevish soil existed. Creevish rhyflers know every ford, every treeline, every approach between Invevenverta and the western border because these are their fields, their villages, and their roads. They have been occupied, liberated, and fought over more times than they care to count, by forces that all claimed to have Creevin’s interests at heart. The Gwyldyfin have developed a practical attitude toward such claims: They dig in, hold ground, and remain. Steadfast. Creevin has endured a long time and the Gwyldyfin will ensure it continues to do so.

Quar: Clash of Rhyfles

Quar: Clash of Rhyfles

It seems the Quar have always been at war. When the first wandering clans of insect gatherers built their low, mud-walled buildings, it was as much to keep out other Quar as the wild animals. As they first learned to make tools to get food, then quickly learned to make tools to defend themselves. The mud walls quickly became fortified citadels and then city-states. In five thousand years of civilization, the only constants of their culture have been the changing of the seasons and the threat of war.

Quar are just like you and me: perfectly normal creatures, bereft of magic or supernatural powers or other-worldly technologies. They do eat bugs, though, and lots of them. Most Quar, when they’re not fighting each other over slights real or imagined, are farmers or traders or merchants. Mostly they live simple, happy lives full of hard work, ale and the occasional overeating of mothcakes.

But there are other Quar, ambitious, striving Quar, for whom a mere warm bed and full belly are not enough. These are the ones that scheme, that connive, and their machinations bring whole nations and kingdoms into conflict. Constant conflict, brutal conflict, for the history of Alwyd is written in blood.

Now the war has come to Creevin. From the west the Arnyaran clans have returned in force, their Iron Houses grinding across the land as their unexpected invasion gobbles up the Creevish countryside. Against them stand the Trench Watch, defenders of the hard country they call home. The armies of five nations have invaded their homeland and they aim to send them all back home.

The Long War is entering a new phase. Gather your weapons, choose your side, and prepare to begin your chapter in the history of this grand conflict.
